A hands-on approach:
At Kuper Academy, we strongly believe in a hands-on approach to our science and technology program. We reinforce all competency development with carefully chosen laboratory activities that target key concepts.
Competency development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics occurs at all grade levels throughout the Mini Academy, Elementary and High School. Students can experience a large variety of STEM development outside of the regular QEP curriculum through the option courses and extracurricular clubs that are offered at the school. From observing the metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies, creating electronic game boards to learn about electric circuits, building robots, studying forensic science and crime scene investigation to bridge building, Kuper Academy has it all.
We are committed to the integration of technology in the classroom by teaching students how to effectively use different technologies to enhance their learning experience rather than distract them from it. An example of this is the use of a Science Journal to have the students record the progress of science experiments using digital means with photos and text. With the growing social media influence, students are learning how to critically think about the content they are consuming and to use online platforms, such as blogging, to relay gathered and synthesized information.
