Students in Kindergarten through grade six participate in physical education twice a week to develop skills such as agility and hand-eye coordination. They are taught how to maintain a healthy fitness level and they learn sportsmanship, cooperation, and team play through a variety of activities that fall within the guidelines of the M.E.L.S. curriculum.
Competitive sports teams such as soccer, basketball, hockey, and cross-country running are offered in the upper elementary grades and they serve to help students continue the development of their basic skills. Intramural sports such as soccer, basketball, yoga, sportball, and dancing are also offered throughout the academic year.
In addition, Kuper Academy has a school-wide house system where all students compete in a variety of sports and competitions in a friendly and supportive manner. Throughout the elementary years students also receive their health instruction within their house team and are assigned a teacher as their coach.
